BPS Aware Of Messages Regarding Paedophile

March 12, 2021

“The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] is aware of social media messages currently circulating regarding a paedophile frequenting the Fort Hamilton area, which includes a description of the individual,” Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels said.

“The BPS is also aware of the individual in question, but cautions members of the public against sending such messages via social media – and instead, encourages the prompt reporting of any suspicious behaviour in your neighbourhood to 211, or 911 in an emergency.

“Residents are reminded that any acts of vigilante justice – in relation to any alleged or actual incident – that come to the attention of the police, will be appropriately investigated.”

Before or after they are convicted? (I advise before).

Something to consider: Most pedophiles (Yank spelling…) are not the creepy guy hanging out near the public toilets or at the bus terminal. Much more common is the well educated guy (mostly guys) with a good job who appears to be doing a stellar community service down at the Scout hall, coaching sport Saturday morning, perhaps a Sunday school teacher, all too often the trusted family friend with whom you leave your kids when you have take an emergency trip because your mother-in-law just passed (yippee). What we really need is proper screening for anybody working with kids, as is the law in most countries.
