“Bermuda’s current WHO country status is Community Transmission.

Minister of Health, the Hon. Kim Wilson stated, “I am aware of voice notes and messages circulating in the community which are causing alarm for people. I will state again, if you have questions about getting the COVID-19 vaccine talk to your doctor. Go to reliable sources for information, coronavirus.gov.bm, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in the US, the World Health Organization or Public Health England are a few of the sites that provide current, accurate information.

“We must continue to work together to stop the spread of the coronavirus and protect our most vulnerable citizens. If you are unwell, please stay at home. Speak with your doctor and make an appointment to take a COVID-19 test.

“We are now in Phase 3 of Bermuda’s vaccination programme. If you haven’t already done so, register to get vaccinated. Visit coronavirus.gov.bm and click on the link at the top of the page to register. When you go to get your vaccine, please wear a proper mask that fully covers your mouth and nose.

“On Sunday 11 April, the COVID-19 Call Centre phone lines will close early, at 3pm, to allow for a phone system upgrade to be completed. Members of the public who need assistance for coronavirus inquiries should send an email to coronavirus@gov.bm. If they need assistance for travel authorisations they should email taapprovals@gov.bm. The phone system will be operational, as normal, at 9am on Monday morning.”

Minister Wilson concluded, “Each of us has a role to play in stopping the spread of the coronavirus. Follow Public Health guidelines, wear a mask, practice good hand hygiene, maintain physical distance and download the WeHealth Bermuda app. If you haven’t already, register to get vaccinated.”

    Lockdown coming!!
Only way to stop it is to vaccinate.

    • Answer says:

Lock downs are a waste of time COVID is here to stay and the economy needs to move. Get vaccinated or don’t get vaccinated the choice is yours. The rates are skyrocketing in every country now.

At the end of the day if you had something available to help you such as a vaccine don’t cry later when you’re sucking on air like a fish out of water.

    • bdamomma says:

That is the only sensible thing to do roll up your sleeve please. This virus is just looking for willing hosts to bounce to one after to another.

  2. Lone_Wolf says:

Vaccination will prevent or lift a lock down, yes, but won’t prevent one from catching Covid. I think the only thing the vaccination is really going to stop is the publication of the numbers as seen above. Once enough people are vaccinated, people will slowly stop caring how many people have it and poof, these articles will stop.

Is this all about the vaccine? Was the virus released on purpose with this vaccine being the agenda the whole time? Is this all a government conspiracy? I don’t know!

I don’t really believe that, or more specifically I don’t WANT to believe that. But I will say that it wouldn’t surprise me that much if it were true.

What I am curious about, is if they all calculated the worldwide cases of the flu since December 2019, how far off would it be from the Covid numbers?

Far more? Far less? Roughly the same?

We will never know because they don’t want us to know.

    • anon says:

Do high risk patients have access to the monoclonal antibodies here?

    • Loquat tree says:

Many countries have reported hardly any flu. Also other infections such as Norovirus are way way down.
Masks, handwashing, better cleaning and distancing work for prevention against many infections.

  3. Horace says:

Bernews.. please ask the gov… why do they count all positive tests as NEW CASES….. i am positive.. have retested still positive twice and they are going in a new cases. RETESTS ARE NOT NEW CASES

    • Lolwut says:

I hope you’re wrong about that. That would be ridiculous

  4. Ringmaster says:

With all these new positives, why does the mean and median ages for all 4 categories remain the same? How many people don’t fall within the age range of under 1 to over 100? Aliens? How accurate is the data?

    • trufth says:

While we’re doing maths, can someone explain how “the seven-day average of our real time reproduction number is (only) 1.05″.

It’s going down??? Help me to understand please.

    • Question says:

The stats are all highly suspect. We have what seems to be an explosion of cases, but don’t panic, the ‘real time reproduction number is only 1.05’.

  5. Shabooh Shoobah says:

Time to grow up and stop cowering to the remote threat of death. If its your time to leave this earth then the cause is irrelevant! Wear your mask, social distance, get vaccinated or don’t but life must go on.

  6. Question says:

A month ago Burt was criticizing the police for being heavy-handed about enforcing covid laws (the ones he had passed). Two weeks ago he downgraded breaches of covid laws from crimes to summary offenses, weakening the laws he had passed.

And now we have nearly a thousand cases, more and more deaths, and more restrictions on our freedoms coming.

Elections have consequences. 30-6. They got us into this. It all could have been different. We know who to blame.

    • Morning says:

Your party = covid and a racist party toward black Bda. If the obaubp was in charge now we would have mass riots. Their is a small segment of the population that doesn’t care for either party but they will never vote obaUBP. Facts

      • Question says:

You’re quite happy then with mismanagement of the pandemic, a thousand cases, unemployment, the economy being trashed, arson fires every night, no buses, no services, no schooling. Facts.

      • Ringmaster says:

Facts, there are more ex UBP Leaders/MPs in the PLP, so the reality is it is UBP/PLP. As to which segment of the population seems to be creating this surge, why is the Chairperson of the PLP appealing for people to get vaccinated, copying the same plea from the Minister?

  7. Honesty is the best Policy says:

Pulic, public, I have a Question, how many of you people that have received the vaccine has tested positive for Covid? Go get tested!!! I want the answers from them only. Ask why do you have Covid? Go get the test today, since you feel alright now.

Another question, if you got the test today and it’s negative does that mean you won’t test positive tomorrow?
So because if all of Dellwood was tested one week, it means all of Dellwood can return to school and all be safe because everyone tested negative? How silly, so why would any fool decide to have all vocal servants, schools, bus drivers or the whole country tested?
Anyone who gets the test and it shows negative tomorrow can still be positive next week.
Everyone knows Santa Claus doesn’t bring gifts, everyone knows rabbits don’t lay eggs.
