May 13, 2021

“To all of our Bermuda’s nurses, thank you. Thanks for your dedication to the profession and the people of Bermuda, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic. You are deeply appreciated today and always,” Minister Kim Wilson said.

Speaking at yesterday’s proclamation, Minister Wilson said, “Today, as we mark International Nurses Day, I am honoured to be here to convey my sincere appreciation and admiration to all of our hard-working and dedicated nurses.

“It has been quite a challenging year, especially for our nurses who have served our community well. Your care, compassion, and commitment to ensure all of our safety during this pandemic has been critical to this island’s health and wellbeing.

“As the Minister responsible for health, as a wife, a mother, and as an active member of my community, I understand and truly value the hard work that our nurses are faced with on a daily basis.

“And I am incredibly proud of our nurses – the stress you endure, the exhaustion, and your unfailing dedication to your profession.

“You’ve navigated through unprecedented uncertainty, devastating sickness and loss of life to help reduce transmission of the virus and to keep people safe and alive, whilst attending to other critical needs of the community as well.

“You’ve demonstrated tremendous strength and courage during this crisis, risking your health and safety to save the lives of others.

“Today is your day. To all of our Bermuda’s nurses, thank you. Thanks for your dedication to the profession and the people of Bermuda, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. You are deeply appreciated today and always.

“Thank you to the Bermuda Nurses Association for allowing me to address you today. I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity to do so. I will now read this year’s proclamation.”

  2. LOL - the real one says:

As long as this pandemic goes on, there should a weekly bonus in their paychecks for hazardous duty.

  3. Cordell W. Riley says:

I would like to commend all nurses for the hard work that they do. In particular, I acknowledge the work of ICU nurses during this pandemic. I heard, firsthand, how caring these individuals are with Covid-19 patients, often substituting for family members who cannot see their loved ones. You are angels dwelling among us.
