Captive Conference Launches 2021 Virtual Event

June 14, 2021

The Bermuda Captive Conference has launched its 17th annual conference – taking place today and tomorrow.

A spokesperson said, “The event, which remains virtual this year, is focused on exploring a theme of Resilience, reflective of the turbulence we have faced both individually and collectively over the last year.

“With attendees tuning in from over 30 countries worldwide, virtual events have brought a positive impact, helping to expand Bermuda’s global reach into the market.

“Over the two days, attendees can look forward to a range of sessions showcasing hot industry topics, emerging issues and a thorough examination of current and future trends in the captive market. Headline industry presentations will be showcased on the event’s Main Stage, alongside smaller, more intimate breakout sessions featuring focused topics for deeper discussion. Key topics attendees can look forward to include:

  • The Pandemic – Is there a Light at the End of the Tunnel for your Company and will the Pandemic Impact your Captive
  • Resilience & Innovation: 2021 Regulatory Update
  • Bermuda – the Safe Port for your Captive
  • The Economists’ View of Resilience

“Alongside sessions, Bermuda Captive Conference Chair, Leslie Robinson will announce the awardee for the 2021 Fred Reiss Lifetime Achievement Award. Launched in 2016, the Fred Reiss Lifetime Achievement Award is honorary of a pioneering Bermuda-based Ohio engineer, who conceived of the idea of ‘self-insurance.’ This conference award commends Bermuda figures who have made an outstanding impact on the captive insurance industry. The announcement will be made on June 15th at 11:00am ADT.

“Unveiling new technology for this year’s event, organisers hope that the event’s multiple interactive areas will encourage connections and allow attendees to meet virtually. One stand-out feature this year is the ability to video call and meet with other attendees, simply by navigating through the attendee list and selecting desired attendees’ profiles. Additionally, at dedicated times throughout the day, delegates have the option to speed-network with one another, meet new people and expand their networks.

“The conference continues to offer free attendance this year, thanks to the continued support of the following event sponsors: Barclays Bank Plc, Business Development Agency [BDA], Graystone Consulting, a business of Morgan Stanley, HSBC Bermuda, PwC Bermuda, Truist Bank, AIG, Appleby, Willis Towers Watson, Beecher Carlson, Liberty Mutual Management, Butterfield, Aon, Davies Captive Management, Strategic Risk Solutions [SRS], Conyers, Allianz Global Benefits, Arthur Morris & Company, Artex, RiverStone, KPMG in Bermuda, AM Best, ASW Law/Compass Administration Services, Comerica Bank, CT Insurance Management, Clarien Bank, Randall & Quilter Investments, Granite Management, Butler University, EY Bermuda, Mazars, MAXIS Global Benefits Network, Ocorian, Kennedys, Texas Capital Bank, Walkers, and Deloitte Bermuda.
