National Heroes Day Holiday Weekend Policing
The Bermuda Police Service said they “will continue to work with the Royal Bermuda Regiment and the Bermuda Reserve Police on enforcement of the Covid-19 regulations this National Heroes Day holiday weekend.”
A police spokesperson said, “Additionally we are working alongside the Dept of Environmental Health on Covid Compliance matters, to include visits to various businesses and restaurants to ensure that patrons and establishments, do not let down their guard on engaging in the appropriate health and safety guidelines.”
Martin Weekes, Assistant Commissioner of Police said: “As part of our efforts to help make this holiday weekend enjoyable, the Police Service alongside our Reserve colleagues, will be actively engaged in keeping our roads safe by conducting speed checks and road sobriety checkpoints.
“On the water, the BPS will be providing extra resources to support and work alongside the officers of the Bermuda Coastguard to bolster their marine policing response this holiday weekend and to monitor Covid compliance as well as to deter anti-social behavior on the water.
“Let’s all work together to make this an enjoyable National Heroes Day holiday.”
“For all Covid related concerns, the BPS encourages the public to use the Non-Emergency 211 line where you can report any breaches of regulations as well as other non-emergency calls for service,” the police added. “Alternatively you may also use the BPS online reporting portal.”
I thought the restrictions were being dropped on Sunday? What are they gonna enforce?
Bermuda is in a very sad situation when everytime a holiday rolls around the police feel the need to appeal to the public to behave themselves.
This might be expected of an inner city area but not a place that likes to consider itself a premium vacation destination.
Completely agree .
Either we are or we aren’t as civilized as we think we are.
I want to see what they do about Saturday raftups.
Will they do the right thing & ignore them or come down on people communist country style?
