Bermuda Sailors Continue In Optimist Worlds

July 9, 2021

A single regatta competed on the penultimate day of racing at the Optimist World Championships, hosted on the Northern Garda Lake in Italy.

A storm coming from the south, and the consequent instability of the wind did not allow the race committee to start more than one race, compared to the three initially scheduled for the day.

The race was completed with a northerly wind, an unprecedented condition for the participants who have so far completed all the regattas of the Individual World Championship with Ora wind from the south.

Bermuda sailors Jack Adderley, PJ Rodrigues, Kipling Rossouw, Ethan Thompson, and Jordan Vieira were all back on the water.

Rodrigues is leading the Bermuda Fleet in 137th place with 185 net points after finishes the only race of the day in 2nd.

Thompson is in 154th with 225 net points crossing the line in 43rd, while Rossouw is in 162nd with 236 net points, Vieira is in 171st with 245 net points and Adderley ended the day in 203rd with 235 net points.
