July 31, 2021

The Bermuda Entertainment Union [BEU] has extended their condolences to the family of the late Gilbert Charles William ‘Bill’ Caisey.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Entertainment Union [BEU] wish to extend our sincere and deepest condolences to the Family of our dear Bro. Gilbert Charles William ‘Bill’ Caisey.

“Bro. ‘Bill’ Caisey, was known as ‘Mr. Ambassador.’ He never knew a stranger; he greeted everyone, anywhere: in a restaurant, a bank, or on the street. He was pleasant and charming to everyone. Just being in his presence was always an adventure.

“Bro. Bill came from a musical family so his musicianship came naturally. He was music. He sang, played various instruments [self-taught], was a gifted singer, a Real front man. He performances in groups include the Mellotones, The Bermuda Steelers Band and the Holiday Island Review.

“Known for his musical gifts, second to that was his style of dress. Bro. Bill has been described as unique, elegant and dashingly handsome with a flair all unto himself. He modeled for English Sports Shop for a while and was voted “Best Dressed Man” for many years.

“His charm and personality exuded his love of life which showed in his walk and carriage.  He was a perfectionist and immaculate with anything he put his hand towards.

“Bro. ‘Bill’ loved his family and was known to burst out in song when he saw his daughters. His daughter Dawn ‘Tianja’ shared that her father sang with a group called Brown Sugar in the 70s which, coincidentally, she sang in the same group in the 80s, at the Southampton Princess. She gives him credit for inspiration, encouragement and guidance for her musical and performance career.

“Bro. Gilbert Charles William ‘Bill’ Caisey, July 1, 1934 to July 22, 2021, son of the late James Tyrell Pitcher Caisey and the late Dorothy Louise Joynes Caisey, beloved brother to Webster [deceased], Gloria, Howard [deceased], Ruth, Albert and Pinky; loving father to Dawn ‘Tianja’ [Sheldon] Alvin ‘Al’ [Toni], Almuriel ‘Sissy,’ Cindy [deceased], Gilbert ‘Stevie’ [Cherita], Zina [Gladstone], Lisa, Mark, Kathy, Chris, Tracey, Bill, Pauline [Galvin] and Jasmine.

“He will be dearly missed and cherished by his many grandchildren, including our newly elected Member-at-Large, Ms. Kiani Caisey, nieces, nephews and very special friends, too numerous to name. For his friends and especially his family, who have accumulated many memories of Bro. ‘Bill’ Caisey, the BEU sends our heartfelt condolences.”
