“Rally For Freedom” Postponed Due To Weather

July 24, 2021

[Updated] The Bermuda Freedom Alliance was scheduled to hold a rally today [July 24] on the Cabinet Building grounds, and while they did set up to hold one, as of this time it is not taking place, with the inclement weather affecting the plans.

Update: Mr Dean confirms the event has been postponed, video comment below

The group had alleged that “despite being given a permit by the Parks Department,” the venue for today’s Worldwide Rally for Freedom was “changed from the Main Ring at Botanical Gardens to the Cabinet Building Lawn due to the denial of a large gathering exemption by The Department of Health.”

Speaking earlier today, spokesperson Eugene Dean said: “We made it very clear to the relevant government representatives that compliance with several of the Emergency Power mandates would put us in direct conflict with the purpose of the rally.

“Many people from various segments of the community have valid concerns with our handling of the pandemic in Bermuda, and, as a result, have been doing their best to cope. Though this was manageable initially, now there is a growing sense, amongst those same people, that enough is enough.

“Today is an opportunity for all who have concerns to make a statement by standing in solidarity with millions of people around the world, regardless of race, religion, gender, class or political affiliation, who are choosing to show up in person for the protection of their rights, their freedoms and their future.”

“The Worldwide Rally for Freedom will commence at 5 pm and finish at 8 pm, All Bermudians and Bermudian residents are invited to attend the rally to show their collective discontent with the discriminatory measures, that have used fear and intimidation, to divide our people, cripple our economy, restrict our movement, and hinder our ability to provide for our loved ones and ourselves.” said Mr Dean.

Hilarious. A Freedom Rally cancelled because of rain. Next time it will be because it’s too hot. Woke warriors need a lot more spine.

how long do we have to suffer these selfish arrogant numpties? Please please know that you are the minority and the rest of us are tired of your selfish stupidity. You have no love for our country or anyone else. You are doing this for yourself and no one else. Stop pretending otherwise.

Lol how does rain stop your freedom protesting?

    Oh Dear,
trying to rage against the machine and a spot of rain put a damper on your enthusiasm.
    Such a Bermuda cliche’
Not really total commitment was it?

  5. comfortably numb says:

Have to doubt their commitment if a little breeze and the odd shower were enough to make them postpone.

What this idiot fails to understand is that people are literally dying for the vaccine.

Go look at the US, go look our own ICU stats. Why should I be put at increased risk by a bunch of granola eating nut jobs? What about my freedoms?

A restaurant owner sent me this comparing his safety standards to the anti-vaxxers. Imagine if he ran his restaurant like this:

    Welcome to Freedom Cafe

We trust you to make your own choices if you want to wear a face mask. And in the same spirit of individual liberty, we allow our staff to make their own choices about the safety procedures they prefer to follow as they prepare and serve your food.

We encourage employees to wash their hands after using the bathroom, but understand that some people may be allergic to certain soaps or may simply prefer not to wash their hands. It is not our place to tell them what to do.

We understand you may be used to chicken that has been cooked to 165 degrees. We do have to respect that some of our cooks may have seen a meme or a YouTube video saying that 100 degrees is fine and we do not want to encroach on their beliefs.

Some servers may wish to touch your food as they serve it. There is no reason that a healthy person with clean hands can’t touch your food. we will take their word for it that they are healthy and clean.

Water temperature and detergent are highly personal choices, and we allow our dishwashing team to decide how they’d prefer to wash the silverware you will put in your mouth.

Some of you may get sick, but almost everyone survives food poisoning. We think you’ll agree that it’s a small price to pay for the sweet freedom of no one ever being told what to do – and especially not for the silly reason of keeping strangers healthy.
