Community Give-Back: Back To School Fun Day
Future Leaders Bermuda is planning a “Community Give-Back: Back to School Fun Day, Extracurricular Fair, and Vendors Market” on Sunday, August 29th from 11.30am to 5.00pm at the Berkeley Institute School Field and have invited members of the community to participate.
A spokesperson said, “We recognise the past year has brought increased hardship on many Bermudian families, businesses and community groups. Our organisation has sought ways to support those in need and bring the community together with the aid of our platinum sponsors, HSCM Bermuda. As part of our charitable initiatives and as a thank you to the public, we are planning a Community Fun Day, Extracurricular Fair & Vendors Market in advance of the new school year.
- “Vendors, community organisations and youth groups: We are providing a space for you to set up stalls to promote your products and initiatives in a secure, wholesome, family-friendly environment.
- “Students and families preparing to go back to school: There will be school supply giveaways and haircuts, and Bermuda is Love will also be holding a school clothing drive at the event.
- “Community services and well-being: Seventh Day Adventist Community Services will be on hand providing free health screenings and other resources, and there will also be a lineup of scheduled workshops on various topics over the course of the day, such as mental health, applying for scholarships, and financial literacy.
“We are inviting all families wishing to pre-order school supplies, along with vendors, food stalls, community organisations, barbers, entertainers and additional sponsors & partners to visit www.futureleaders.bm/backtoschool to register their interest and sign up in advance.
“The event will take place on Sunday, August 29th with the Berkeley Institute school field being open from 11:30am until 5pm, with Future Leaders volunteers on hand to marshal persons on the field and ensure all Covid protocols and attendee limits are observed. Details on parking, crowd control, workshop schedules and other logistics will be posted on our website closer to the date.
“We would like to thank our corporate partner Bernard Opoku & HSCM Bermuda for their support of our organisation, along with Craig Bridgewater & The Berkeley Institute, Daniel Woods & Off-Level Entertainment, Shiona Turini and all our community partners for making this event possible.”
