Cervino Finishes 6th In U17 O’pen Skiff In Italy

September 1, 2021

Bermudian Matteo Cervino finished sixth competing in the Italian Youth Championships U17 O’pen Skiff class in Cagliari, Sardinia.

A spokesperson said, “Cervino saw his toughest day of racing on the last day, slipping from fourth position overall on day two to fifth position after the first race and landing in sixth position overall after the final race.

Competition was tight between the third and fifth competitors, who were battling for that third podium spot up until the last race.

“Excellent competition and superior racing did not let up, showcasing the best the O’pen Skiff class Italy has to offer. Topping the charts in first place was the unstoppable phenom Manuel De Felice from Monte di Procida, who after three days and 10 races had a total score of only 13 points.

“Following him in the second and third spots were the well deserved Luca Franceschini from Garda and Sara Murru from Sulcis, Sardegna, top female absolute.

“Bermudian Matteo Cervino, who lives on the Island of Elba, will be moving up to the laser class in 2022.”
