Matteo Cervino 8th In O’pen Skiff Champions
Bermudian Matteo Cervino recently finished in eighth place at the O’pen Skiff class Champions Cup in Rome.
A spokesperson said, “The Circolo Nautico Giugliemo Marconi in Rome hosted the O’pen Skiff class Champions Cup 2021 over the weekend. Short 20 minute races were the theme of the regatta and the top 10 ranked sailors in Italy were selected and invited to attend.
“With low wind conditions on the first day, Bermudian Matteo Cervino, ranked ninth in Italy, ended the first day in eighth position.
“The second day started early with 12 knot conditions and the sailors managed to get in another ten races before the wind calmed again to 5 knots. Rounding out the day with a last race 1st place finish, Matteo ended the Championship in 8th position overall.”
Matteo Cervino’s coach said, “Great results from this beautiful day on the water, where we were able to complete 10 races in both categories. Incredible work by the President of the Club, Mario Rovinelli. Really incredible results.”
