Netball Season Gets Underway At Bernard Park

The Bermuda Netball Association’s League season got underway at the Bernard Park with a full slate of matches.

Under 11 Division: Storm 16 Phoenix Sparks 0

The Storm defeated the Phoenix Sparks 16 – 0 in the season opener. Storm MVP Journee Belboda scored 14 goals, with Kaiazja Gibbons and Diya Steede adding a goal each, while Leigha Ferguson was named the Phoenix Sparks MVP.

Under 11 Division: Rangers 24 North Village Lady Rams 1

Rangers in the second game of the day defeated the North Village Lady Rams 24 – 1. Rangers MVP Eleanor Kurlucleba led them to victory with 16 goals, Erynn Paynter added the other 8 goals. Zaryah Holman scored the lone goal for the North Village Lady Rams, with Kenzie McCrary named the teams MVP.

Under 14 Division: Storm Thunder 7 Rangers 2

The Storm Thunder defeated the Rangers 7 – 2, Malaysia Furbert would lead the Storm Thunder to victory with 6 goals, while Ameerah Outerbridge added the other, Day’asha Dill was named the teams MVP, while both Ameerah Richardson Swan and team MVP Saajida Daniels scored a goal each for Rangers.

Under 14 Division: Phoenix Embers 13 North Village Lady Rams Whites 11

The Phoenix Embers defeated the North Village Lady Rams Whites 13 – 11. The Phoenix Embers got 6 goals from Makaylie Smith, Kammie Mills added 4 goals, and Hailey Trott scored 3 goals. The North Village Lady Rams Whites got 9 goals from Ra’eesah Robinson, and 2 goals from Rayzeeyah Robinson. Khylie Smith was named the Phoenix Embers MVP, with Nevaeh Swan named the North Village Lady Rams Whites MVP.

Under 17 Division: Phoenix Fire 14 North Village Lady Rams 13

The Phoenix Fire edged the North Village Lady Rams 14 – 13. K’xiyae Gibbons led the Phoenix Fire to victory with 9 goals, Makaylie Smith added 4 goals, and Kez’jah Weeks scored once, with Keenai Hayward named the teams MVP.

Senior Division: Storm 33 North Village Lady Rams 32

The Storm won a back and forth battle edging the North Village Lady Rams 33 – 32. The Storm ended the first quarter leading by one but soon after the North Village Lady Rams led the game by up to 4 points up until the last 5 minutes of the last quarter. Jordyn Morris went down and had to be subbed. Storm brought on Amayah Burt one of their Under 17 players who stepped up in the shooting circle in her debut.

The Storm got 13 goals from Burt, Kaamilah Nasir added 11 goals, with Zakiyah Durham scoring 9 goals, Darrika Simons scored 19 goals for the North Village Lady Rams, with Jordyn Morris added 12 goals, and Coriah Simons scored once. The MVP for the Storm was Precious Evans, while Akeyla Furbert was named the North Village Lady Rams MVP.
