Bermuda Sailors Continue Orange Bowl Regatta

Bermuda sailors continued competing in the 2021 Orange Bowl Regatta off the Coral Reef Yacht Club in Florida, with the competitors taking part in four races on the second day.

Sophia Dias, Sam Redburn, Noah Amaradasa, Dylan Menzies, Oliver Soares, Jack Adderley, Evan Davis, and Nina Gotfredsen began competing in the optimist fleet that was split into three groups, and now have a five race series.

Soares continues to lead the Bermuda sailors in the fleet, coming off the water 81st after finishing 28th in the first race of the day in the blue group. Soares also sailed to a 36th, 16th, and 43rd place finish and has 97 points.

Dias moved up 56 places to 95th after finishes of 33rd, 19th, 28th, and 32nd in the purple group with 112 points. Amaradasa is currently 114th with 135 points, while Menzies is T121st with 141 points.

167 points sees Adderley in 145th, while Davis is in 158th with 180 points. Redburn is T178th with 225 points, and Gotfredsen ended the day in 190th with 244 points.

Gryffyn Benevides, Fox Targett, Indira Coleman, Oliver West, and Tadhg Gotfredsen are all competing in the optimist green fleet.

Targett is leading the Bermuda sailors in the fleet in 36th with 127 points, Coleman is 48th with 171 points, Benevides is in 57th with 219 points, and Gotfredsen is in 60th with 242 points.

Bermuda is being represented in the ILCA 4 Fleet by Isaac Wickramage, Ben Redburn, Ciarra Wells, and Pharaoh Benevides, while Sergio de Frias competed in the ILCA 6 fleet.

In the ILCA 4 Fleet, Redburn remained in 31st place with 134 points, Wickramage is in 42nd with 162 points, Benevides ended the day in 51st with 185 points, Wells is in 54th place with 204 points, and De Frias finished the day in 62nd with 102 points in the ILCA 6 Fleet.
