BFRS Extinguish Mattress Fire In Devonshire

The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service [BFRS] extinguished a fire at a residence in Devonshire today [Feb 18], with the BFRS confirming when they arrived they “found a mattress on fire.”

A spokesperson said, “At 4:01pm on February 18th, BFRS Dispatch received a report of smoke issuing from a two story structure at Cedar Park Devonshire. BFRS responded with two appliances one from Hamilton Station and one from Port Royal Fire Station and a total of eight firefighters.

“Upon arrival, fire crews saw a two story structure with smoke issuing from a window on the second story. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the structure through the front door, made their way to the second story and found a mattress on fire. They quickly extinguished the flames. The fire is under investigation by the BFRS fire investigator.”
