TCS Charity Note Increased Demand For Services
Transitional Community Services [TCS] — a charity that works with 18-34 year old men — is aiming to raise $65,000, noting that “the increased demand by referrals and the complexity of the needs of these men, demonstrate that there is a clear need for our services.”
A spokesperson said, “Transitional Community Services [TCS], is a registered charity that works with 18-34 year old men. TCS is the primary registered charity in Bermuda that focuses solely on the needs of this group within our community.
“We have raised over $740,000 in our current fiscal year ending May 31st. We are proud of this achievement! We need your help to reach a target of $65,000 before fiscal year end, to ensure we start our next fiscal year in a solid position. Will you help?
“We have had tremendous support from many donors including but certainly not limited to Resolution Re, AXA XL, Deloitte, Community Foundation, the Centennial Foundation, Hannover Re, Validus, and Edmund Gibbons Limited. The Community Bridge Builders Program provided by Transitional Community Services is supported through funding from the Chronic Disease Innovation Programme managed by the Bermuda Health Council.
“Additionally, we are extremely excited that we will be one of the charity recipients of the Convex End-to-End. The funds generated from this worthy cause will strengthen our fiscal position at the start of our fiscal year on June 1st.
“Over the past year, TCS has created a space of safety for young adult men who desire to live life differently. Through case management, employability skill building and counseling services, men have started to set and accomplish their individual goals; thus, increasing their stability in the community. TCS runs groups, which have created a sense of belonging and connectedness for the young men who they serve.
“We are pleased to report that some of our men have increased their stability by obtaining more secure housing, getting employment, accessed education resources and have taken advantage of skills development opportunities.
“When we facilitate our internal quarterly assessments, we consistently find that on average the men we work with demonstrate decreased risk and vulnerability levels. We are extremely proud of the men, and are honored to be a part of their individual journeys.
