IoD To Host Non-Executive Directors Course

The Institute of Directors [IoD] Bermuda will be a hosting a course titled ‘The Role of the Non-Executive Director’ as part of the organisation’s ongoing professional development programme on Tuesday [May 10].

The course is being offered at a 50% reduced cost; $300 for IoD members and $375 for non-members

A spokesperson said, “The Institute of Directors Bermuda will be a hosting a special, stand-alone course at a discounted rate, titled ‘The Role of the Non-Executive Director’ as part of the organisation’s ongoing professional development programme on Tuesday [May 10].

“This comprehensive one-day course will equip attendees with practical strategies to build their network, raise their profiles to secure board appointments, and add value in this important strategic and oversight role.”

IoD Bermuda Executive Director, Danielle Riviere, said, “The demand for non-executive directors continues to rise within multiple sectors including third sector organisations and private companies.

“It has never been more important to understand the critical requirements and appropriate skill set of a non-executive director. We are excited to be able to offer this course at a 50% reduced cost for $300 to IoD members and $375 for non-members.”

The spokesperson said, “Leading this course will be Damon Clark, the founder of the Brandwidth Group, an International Marketing Services business with offices in Windsor, London and California. Mr Clark holds a portfolio of non-executive director positions and has in the past held roles in local government and various charities.

“Key aspects of what Mr Clark will cover include, understanding the legal and practical responsibilities of non-executive director, defining how the role helps create an effective board, and developing strategies to deal with a range of boardroom challenges.

“Following the course participants will have the opportunity to hear from guest speaker, Mr Neil Glass, during a one-hour drinks reception.”

Ms Riviere said, “Neil is one of Bermuda’s seven Chartered Directors. He holds a number of non-executive director positions on listed and unlisted international companies and sits on IoD Bermuda’s Board. So he has a wealth of experience and practical advice to share with participants as well as a few ‘war stories’ from inside and outside the boardroom.”
