Minister Updates On Bus/Minibus Service
Minister of Transport Lawrence Scott provided an update regarding the school minibus service.
Minister Scott said, “Since September 2021, the Ministry of Transport has contracted the services of two minibus companies to operate school student transportation. As with any Government, contract vendors are required to comply with banking regulations and due diligence requirements to operate a business.
“The Ministry contracted with two minibus companies to provide student transportation. Due to their internal operations, one vendor could not receive payments from the Bermuda Government. The Ministry has been in talks with the vendor to guide and resolve the outstanding issues.
“For the remaining school year [14 days], the DPT will continue using minibuses managed by the second company and deploy public buses to help with school routes.
“Today, 13 June, DPT had one-morning cancellation on the regular bus service. However, this afternoon DPT was unable to provide transportation to four schools- West End Primary, Port Royal Primary School, Berkeley Institute, and Harrington Sound Primary. Schools were notified in advance for students and parents to make alternative transportation arrangements.”
Minister Scott added, “Over the next two weeks, commuters can expect a few delays. However, we are working diligently to service routes with minimal disruptions. I wish to thank the bus operators and the Union and Management teams at DPT for their assistance and support.”
How about the ministers use the sheety bus service and let the kids ride and your cars
Garbage.
What a mess this government has made of transport. You could not do worse.
Transport, Public Works vehicles & garbage collection, Marine & Ports, Parks, Immigration.
What a mess they have made of everything. Everything. Everything and anything the PLP touches turns to dogsh*t.
Worst would be the OBA winning again which is why it will never happen. If they don’t have the basketballs to march and stop the plp TA form which is causing all Bermudians to pay $4o to return home what good are they!
Wrong, OBA was turning the ship around to benefit Bermuda. They took over a government that was struggling to pay payroll. The PlP has benefitted from the OBA work, but has not built upon it.
This isn’t about OBA marching, this is about people marching. These parties are made up of politicians, you shouldn’t be in one camp or the other, its not a team you pick and stick with. You need to look at who can do the best for the country and it isn’t currently the PLP.
You really think marching is the answer…it’s such a pointless exercise (other than being exercise which most Bermudians need) …and do you really think the party of “we don’t care” will listen?
The OBA needs to copy the PLp playbook or forever be a pointless opposition party. They have no clue on how to beat the plp and if that’s true move out of the way for a real party to finally challenge this government.
The problem is, that some of the hardest decisions politically will be needed to drag us back from the edge. And you know, Tweed, Smoothie drinking hunger striker and the rest of Burt’s rent-a-mob will be marching faster than you can say “where’s the pepper spray”.
The OBA can’t beat the PLP, because the majority of the electorate have bought into the myth of social and racial engineering and, while being an unmitigated disaster, will not bring themselves to admit they were wrong.
The UBP or aka OBA only won for many years because they control 15% or possibly 20% of the black voters. Look how many have departed over the years now it’s what 2% and a black leader used as a front when we all know Dunkley is the better man for the job. Cole is seen as a clown and he can’t even perform that correct. The party is the real truth in racial engineering.
“The OBA needs to copy the PLp playbook”
You’re saying that they need to be racist, homophobic and xenophobic…which is not really good for the economy….but the true, born majority don’t seem to care.
It’s beyond them to do the most basic things isn’t it. Hopeless.
So you the government hired a company that the government can’t pay because it doesn’t meet banking and government compliance rules. Okay, this is a mess. Who approved hiring this company?
Hopeless! Except for the compliance officer who has the courage to say, nope they are not compliant, I’m not signing off on payment no matter whose f&f they are!
Minister could you give an update on the pilot boat that was damaged? Its still out of service why? was suppose to have been repaired.
We have a Minister who is into something that is way over his head. How is he supposed to sort out the mess at DPT when he is no more capable than the numpties on North Shore?
Still waiting for the true cost of the E buses to be flushed out of him. His last claim of $130,000 is only fooling those who are easily fooled.
