Joell-Deshields Named In 2022 Pride Power List

July 13, 2022

Bermudian Christopher Joell-Deshields has been named in the 2022 Pride Power List, with the UK-based organisation noting the list comprises of “publicly nominated LGBTQI individuals who have made a difference over the past 12 months.”

The Pride Power List website said, “Chris is Executive Director of Pride in London, London’s annual LGBTQI Pride festival and parade. A not-for-profit organisation, Pride in London is run by volunteers, with all surplus funds going towards supporting LGBTQI communities. He also leads on embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Sense, the national disability charity.”

The Pride Power List aims to “celebrate those powerful, dedicated and wonderful people within the LGBTQI community” and “comprises of publicly nominated LGBTQI individuals who have made a difference over the past 12 months whether it’s through hours of campaigning, speaking at international events or writing for publications across the globe.”

Mr Joell-Deshields is the Executive Director of Pride in London, leading a team of six directors and over 200 volunteers to organise the parade, and the Bermudian — who previously noted to Bernews that London is his second home as “Bermuda will always be my first” — is the first Black person to lead the organisation.
