Ocean View Golf Course recently held its annual Cup Match Golf Tournament, with the St. George’s team emerging as victors.

A spokesperson said, “Sunday the 24th July, the Ocean View Golf Course hosted its fifth annual Cup Match Golf Tournament at Ocean View Golf Course. This was another brilliant event orchestrated by the Head Golf Professional Brian Morris. It was a stableford format that consisted of 52 players dressed in their team colors – 26 players representing St. George’s and 26 players representing Somerset.

“We were blessed to have the Cup Match captains and presidents in attendance for the event.

The final closest to the pin results are as follows:

Closest to the Pin #2 – William Usher Jr – St. George’s
Closest to the Pin #7 – Peter Philpott – St. George’s
Closest to the Pin #9 – Eugene Smith – Somerset
Closest to the Pin #11 – Ann Symonds – Somerset
Closest to the Pin #16 – Robert Coddington – St. George’s
Closest to the Pin #18 – Colin Swan – St. George’s

The stableford points system set up was as follows:

1 point for bogey
2 points for par
3 points for birdie
4 points for eagle
6 points for albatross

“It ended up being a very close contest in the end. Somerset finished with 475 points while newly crowned champions St. George’s finished with 481 points.

“Much of the success of this event goes out to Head Golf Professional Brian Morris, Assistant Head Professional OJ Pitcher, and their team.
