Boxer & Kickboxer Visit Fun Camps Youth Retreat

Bermuda boxer Andre Lambe was the special guest at the final Fun Camps BDA retreat of the summer at Darrell’s Island.
Lambe and kickboxer Jermal Woolridge engaged in fun-packed activities with youngsters at the camp and shared some tips during a boxing session.
“[I] had a great time over the weekend surrounded by some positive people,” Lambe wrote on Facebook.
“It warms my heart to see opportunities like this given to our youth to be able to create memories, come together and enjoy life while learning valuable life lessons.
“I was more than happy to join in and pass down some of my skills in boxing to the next generation.”
Fun Camps BDA is the brainchild of former footballers Keishen Bean, Trey Bean, Darius Cox, Aaron Williams and Anthony Bascome, a leading educational therapist for at-risk boys.
Several three-day retreats have been held this summer at Darrell’s Island, Paget Island and Ports Island for boys and teens aged 8 to 12 and 13 to 18.
They involve activities designed to encourage positive self-esteem, trust building, critical thinking and decision-making, such as riding dirt bikes, fishing, snorkelling, swimming and tubing.
Among the guests to have visited the retreats have been Kenny Thompson, the former Bermuda football coach, and ex-national team players John Barry Nusum and Ralph Bean Jr.
