Govt Mailer: ‘Five Years Of Working For You’
The Government said that a household mailer — entitled ‘Five Years Of Working For You’ — is being sent out which provides “an update of the programmes, policies and initiatives that have been undertaken and completed over the last five years.”
A Government spokesperson said, “The Government advised today that it has shared a household mailer which provides the public with an update of the programmes, policies and initiatives that have been undertaken and completed over the last five years.
“The expansive overview provides a progress report on several areas on which the Government has delivered, including healthcare, education, youth, seniors, childcare, energy reform, environmental protection and sustainability, Covid relief, economic stimulus, and economic recovery.”
Today, Premier David Burt said, “Over the last five years, the Government has been steadily working for the betterment of Bermuda. We have introduced innovative and relevant policies that helped to ensure a better life for the people of this island. The Government remains committed to ensuring that our citizens are cared for, provided for, and have access to fair and equitable opportunities to thrive.”
We asked about the costs to mail these out and a spokesperson said that there was no cost to mail them out, as it was done via the OHMS postal service.
Premier Burt said the public should be receiving the brochure in their mailboxes over the course of the next few days adding, “We look forward to continuing to serve Bermuda and working hard every day to deliver progress for Bermudian families, residents, and businesses.”

Disgusting waste of tax payers money to produce and send out a PLP election flyer. Surely there is a law against this? Despicable. 5 years? Government is made up of Civil Servants paid for by the tax payer that are supposed to work for the people, not a political party. The jewel of the Atlantic is now a cesspit.

I received one of these flyers in the mail yesterday. If ANY government feels the needs to send me a flyer to tell me “how great thou art” that sends up a red flag. If you are doing a good job and I feel that I was getting value for my tax dollar, I would know it. Why is this government spending money they have BORROWED DIUE TO THEIR CARELESS SPENDING to make us feel that we should be grateful? That flyer should have been paid for by the PLP not the taxpayer! If Burt feels the need to waste money to tell us what “promises” the government has kept and what he has done, he most be worried. Just wondering why there was no list telling us of all the things that the PLP promised to do, or improve and have failed?
What happened to lowering cost of Healthcare? that tookl a detor. My Health Insurance costs me $322 that it did two years ago! What happened to improving Public Education? How many schools have closed and will close this year? Lets look at Tourism? The ONLY hotels that renovated or built were announced and started during the 4 years that the OBA were in power …the Loren, FHP and St Regis. FACT!!!! How’s the Grand Atlantic / Hilton bail out plan coming along!
The PLP went from 2 trash pick up days to 1 and even that does not happen regularly! Buses and ferries are a disaster. Don’t believe me? Search Bernews to see how many cancellation announcements were made this year! How do you enjoy driving on the smooth road?
At first , I thought Premiere Burt was doing an okay job especially in the early stages of the Covid pandemic. Then we started to see the inconsistencies ! The Burt PLP government has often tried to sell the, do as we say, not as we do guide book. You all can continue to celebrate the 30-6 victory and brag about. Ask your PLP MP if after all their spending and borrowing if they honestly believe their will be a government pension for you to enjoy in 10+ years!

Oh, and we know the PLP faithful will say its all because of Jetgate, but wont talk about BREBs Jetgate! They will probably say its because of the airport outsourcing deal, but wont remind that the Hospital outsourcing deal was the same kind of contract. they will blame Morgans Point, but won’t tell you the history of how Morgan’s Point came to be! Ask them about the US Naval base screw up, the land swap that the PLP turned into the Grand Atlantic that the government invested tens of millions of dollars into, to only have THRRE homes sell!
I could go on forever, but I know that some people will just keep drinking the purple koolaid so I won’t go on any longer.
