Photos: Post Office Team Clean Up Gardens

October 9, 2022

On Friday, Bermuda Post Office [BPO] employees volunteered their time by partnering with the Department of Parks to clean up and beautify the Botanical Gardens.

A spokesperson said, “The initiative celebrated World Post Day [WPD], an annual observance that is recognised globally today, Sunday, 9 October. WPD intends to raise awareness of the postal system’s role in the everyday lives of people and businesses. This year’s theme is “Post for Planet: Ensuring a greener planet for future generations”.

Postmaster General Sam Brangman Jr. said: “Post Offices are global players in the delivery of goods and essential services, and we are in a prime position to lead the way across the entire global supply chain.

“We should also bring awareness to the role that postal service provides to the community for businesses and everyday citizens, which also helps to drive progress in social and economic development while keeping us sustainable.

“As the BPO revives its spirit of service and innovation with paperless products like MyBermudaPost, we will continue to support our community, help reduce carbon emissions and drive change.”

“Previously, the BPO has honoured WPD by undertaking several projects, including cleaning nursing homes, reading stories to nursery school children, preparing food, and delivering meals for the charity Meals on Wheels.

Minister for the Cabinet Office Wayne Furbert said: “As the Minister responsible for the Post Office, I’m very proud of the spirit of philanthropy and creativity that our Postal and Parks teams provide. I do not doubt that cleaning our cherished Botanical Gardens will be noticeable and appreciated by the public.”
