Andre Lambe is eyeing career-enhancing bouts abroad after claiming his second regional title with a dazzling points win over American Cristiano Luciano at The Shed in Dockyard last night.

Lambe has become the first Bermudian boxer to own two titles after adding the vacant American Boxing Organisation [ABO] welterweight title to the American Boxing Federation [ABF] welterweight crown he claimed last October.

The 27-year-old [7-0] was dominant throughout the six-round contest and awarded a unanimous points win by the judges.

“On paper, Luciano was tough, but once he got in there with me, he didn’t know what to do,” Lambe told Bernews.

“He wasn’t committing to his punches and wasn’t throwing many either. I had to set the pace throughout the entire fight. He didn’t do much.”

Lambe admits he must look to leave the comfortable confines of the island and test himself overseas as he looks to gain greater exposure.

“I have some big things in the works, and it’s going to be bigger than these [fights],” added Lambe, who has fought once overseas, beating Dominique Williams in Orlando in July 2021.

“I’m looking to get some fights overseas now I’ve won these titles and get more eyes on me. I’m going to sit down with my team and make some decisions.

“I’ve started the year right by winning another belt. I’ll look to keep this going.”

In the other professional fight, Bermudian Michael Parsons lost by technical knockout in his super-welterweight encounter against American Zeleck Ruiz.

Referee Anthony Mouchette stopped the fight in the second round on the advice of the ringside doctor due to a cut to Parsons’s nose.

On the amateur undercard, Bermudian Adrian Roach defeated American Anthony Hernandez in their middleweight contest by unanimous decision.

Roach, who has won 17 of his 22 bouts, will now turn his attention to competing at the Leonard “Boston Blackie” Miller/Wellington “Sonny Boy” Rahming Memorial Championships in Nassau, Bahamas, next month.
