Flight Diverts Due To Medical Emergency
On Tuesday [March 21], a British Airways Flight — traveling from Antigua to London — diverted to Bermuda due to a medical emergency with a 50-year-old male passenger onboard, who was suffering from a suspected heart attack.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Tuesday 21st March 1:13am – RCC Bermuda received a call from New York Air Traffic Control Centre Advising the British Airways Flight, enroute from Antigua to London Gatwick, was diverting to Bermuda due to a medical emergency with a 50-year-old male passenger onboard, who was suffering from a suspected heart attack. Bermuda Radio commenced the call out procedure for the airport and the Boeing 777, landed safely in Bermuda at 2:46am. The aircraft departed shortly after, proceeding on her original flight plan back to London Gatwick.”
