13 Department Of Corrections Officers Promoted
Thirteen Department of Corrections Officers received promotions during the promotions ceremony at Corrections Headquarters.
The Department of Corrections promotions list included Assistant Commissioner Shannon Hollis, Chief Officer Gladwin Simons, Principal Officer Sabrina Bourne, Principal Officer Quincy Caines, Principal Officer Diana Caisey, Principal Officer James Codrington, Divisional Officer Keysha Burgess, Divisional Officer Celia Correia, Divisional Officer Ronald Darrell, Divisional Officer Shannon DeRoza, Divisional Officer Milton Jones, Divisional Officer Juan Looby and Divisional Officer Timothy Seon.
“You are role models for the next generation of corrections officers, and it is up to you to set the standard for professionalism, integrity, and compassion,” said Minister of National Security Michael Weeks during the promotions ceremony.
“As you assume your new roles, I encourage you to embrace the challenges that lie ahead. The road ahead may be long and challenging at times, but you have shown that you have the skills and determination to succeed. You are part of a team, and together, we can continue to make Bermuda a safer and more just society.
“You are not alone. You have the support of your fellow officers, your families and the entire community behind you, and of course, your Government.”
Commissioner of Corrections Keeva-Mae Joell-Benjamin told those in attendance: “Today, 13 of my colleagues have taken up the baton to assist in leading the Department of Corrections.
“Not only is this an exciting time, but it is also a time of change as several senior management team members will be retiring within the next 18 months.
“I challenge the newly-promoted officers to embrace change. We have seen promotions in all ranks – from Divisional Officer to Assistant Commissioner.
“Our newly promoted officers will play a key role in carrying out our department’s mission and be actively involved in empowering inmates to be responsible and productive citizens.”
