Hopkins Wins Bronze In Time-Trial In Panama

Kaden Hopkins has claimed a bronze medal in the elite men’s time-trial at the Pan American Road Championships in Panama today [April 19].

Hopkins completed the 38.4-kilometre course in 50min 03sec, finishing behind second-place Miguel Lopez, of Colombia, (47:58) and his compatriot and race winner Walter Vargas [47:57].

Also representing Bermuda was Conor White, who finished sixth in 51:42.

The Bermuda Bicycle Association posted on Facebook that Hopkins and Whites’ performances had earned the island two spots at the Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, in October and November.

Hopkins and White will compete in the elite men’s road race on Sunday.

Yesterday, Caitlin Conyers finished eleventh in the elite women’s time-trial in Panama, completing the 25.6km course in 38:36sec.

Conyers and team-mate Gabriella Arnold will compete in the elite women’s road race on Saturday [April 22].

Meanwhile, Bermudians Liam Flannery and Nicholas Narraway competed in the men’s under-23 time-trial today, with Flannery claiming a top-ten finish and Narraway placing sixteenth. They race in the under-23 road race on Saturday.
