Betschart Finishes Runner-Up In SailGP Inspire
Bermuda’s Rachael Betschart finished runner-up at the Waszp Grand Final of the SailGP Inspire Championship of Champions on San Francisco Bay last weekend.
Betschart reached the showpiece final after becoming the first female winner of the Inspire Racing Series at the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix in May last year.
The Championship of Champions, which ran alongside the SailGP Season 3 Grand Final, involved some of the best young sailors in the world.
Betschart, 17, placed second out of seven competitors in the female division, 19 points adrift of New Zealand’s Stella Bilger.
The Inspire Racing Waszp programme is a stepping stone for under-21 sailors to develop foiling skills and create a pathway to SailGP’s F50 catamarans.
