Annual Junior Fishing Tournament Held
Prize giving for the Bermuda Anglers Club Annual Junior Fishing Tournament was held today [Aug 19] at the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club.
Tournament Director Kip Froud said, “The tournament was a great success. We had 126 kids registered for the event, 35 percent of those who registered were girls. We had 78 kids come to the weigh-in. And at the prize giving we distributed $5,000 worth of prizes and giveaways to our young anglers.”
That prize pool was made possible by the generosity of H&H Plumbing and Mechanical, C-Mart, Butterfield & Vallis, and Marine Locker who helped sponsor the event.”
Froud noted,” It was so pleasing to see our young anglers practicing good marine stewardship. We had several children attend the weigh in, without a fish to weigh because they had released an undersized species”.
The spokesperson said, “Twenty-eight prizes were awarded at Saturday’s prize giving with the main prizes going to:
- Jack Fullerton – H&H Plumbing & Mechanical Top Offshore Boat – 24lb wahoo.
- Kenzie Barnes – Top Inshore Boat – 3lb jack.
- Alessia Vianello – Top Female Angler – 5lb hind.
- Gyasi Dowling – Top Shore Angler – 5.5lb chub.
