Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon On Saturday

The 33rd Annual Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon will proceed on Saturday [Sept 16] at Clearwater Beach as scheduled.

A spokesperson said, “For the safety of all participants and guests, conditions in the race area will be evaluated prior to the start of the event as a precaution following the storm. If water conditions are deemed unsafe, the swim portion of the race will be eliminated and kids will participate in a duathlon instead, which consists of a run – bike – run format.

  • Please note: Race Kit pick up will now begin at 9:30am; the first race is now 11:30am.
  • Registration is still open, and is available on www.clarienironkids.com. All kids ages 3 to 15 are invited to compete for a chance to win up to a $1,000 Clarien Iron Kids Bank account.
  • Those who are currently registered but no longer able to attend should email info@bermudatiming.com for refund assistance.
  • Early Kit Pick Up will no longer be available on Friday, September 15 due to storm conditions. All race kits must be collected on Saturday morning.

Race Details

The Junior Triathlon [Ages 7 – 15]

  • Children ages 7-15 swim, bike and run to the finish line. This competition is open to all children, but veteran youth triathletes often participate.

Tiny Tots Race [Ages 3 – 6]

  • This is the last triathlon event of the day, open to children ages 3-6. Tiny Tots must be accompanied by an adult.

Boys & Girls [Ages 11-15]*

  • 200 meter swim
  • 5 mile bike
  • 1 mile run

Boys & Girls [Ages 7-10]*

  • 100 meter swim
  • 2.5 mile bike
  • 0.5 mile run

Tiny Tots [Ages 3-6]*

  • 10 meter swim
  • 250 meter bike
  • 50 meter run

*If necessary, the duathlon distances are: Ages 11 – 15 [1 mile run, 5 mile bike, 0.50 mile run]; Ages 7 – 10 [0.5 mile run, 2.5 mile bike, 0.25 mile run]; Tiny Tots [50 meter run, 250 meter bike, 25 meter run].

The spokesperson said, “All participants must be ages 3 to 15 on December 31, 2023. Children turning 7 or 11 before December 31 will be required to register in the next age group category.

“We urge the entire community to stay safe during the impending storm. Should conditions following the storm deem it necessary, additional updates regarding the event will be announced.”
