Bermudian Dennis Zuill has played an integral role in organising the recent Sky Blues in the Community [SBitC] Dave Bennett Walking Football tournament in Coventry, England.

The former Bermuda defender is a lead coach at SBitC – the charity arm of Sky Bet Championship side Coventry City.

Named after Bennett, who won the FA Cup with Coventry in 1987, the tournament had teams representing Leicester City in the Community, SBitC Rugby Borough, Coventry Sphinx and Macmillan cancer support groups.

The SBitC Rugby Borough beat Macmillan on penalties in the final.

Zuill, a former Dandy Town Hornets assistant coach, told the Coventry City website: “It’s been a fantastic day. Walking Football is a modified version of the beautiful game that caters to individuals who may have physical limitations or prefer a less intense form of exercise.

“This inclusive sport promotes fitness, social interaction, and a sense of camaraderie among participants.”

Walking football is suited to people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities.

Aside from the obvious health benefits, the sedate form of football eliminates running, so players can enjoy the game while putting less strain on their bodies.

Zuill added: “We firmly believe that since introducing walking football to our community, it’s not only had a positive impact on the physical and mental well-being of our participants but also enhanced the sense of unity and togetherness that is so important in any locality.

“Together, we create an environment that promotes healthy lifestyles, inclusivity, and strong community ties.”
