New $25K Brian Morris Scholarship Launched
Friends of Hospice unveiled the Brian Morris Palliative Care Scholarship, in honour of the late Bermudian professional golfer.
A spokesperson said, “The Friends of Hospice Brian Morris Palliative Care Scholarship will provide up $25,000 per year to a Bermudian studying medicine or nursing, with an emphasis on those with a speciality in hospice and palliative care. The scholarship will be maintained throughout the duration of their academic programme, provided they maintain a 3.0 grade average [or regional equivalent] and demonstrate their commitment to community service.
“This scholarship comes as part of the Friends of Hospice’s commitment to developing the on-island talent pool for hospice and palliative care. The Friends of Hospice Annual Brian Morris Memorial Golf Tournament, following its inaugural event last year, will become an annual event with proceeds going towards to scholarship fund. This year’s event will take place on Friday, May 3rd at Ocean View Golf Course.”
Jennifer Mahoney, Executive Director of the Friends of Hospice, said, “We are delighted to announce the new Friends of Hospice Brian Morris Palliative Care Scholarship to assist those with an interest in hospice and palliative care education. We look forward to helping to nurture local talent in this underserved field as well as to creating opportunities for those who mean to share their skills with their island home.

Everyone deserves access to exceptional care, and this is another step towards ensuring that happens.”
