A trip in April 2023 by Minister of Home Affairs Walter Roban to Miami, Florida cost $3,081.41, according to a listing on the Government’s travel webpage.

The trip duration was listed as from April 26, 2023 – April 28, 2023, and the web page listing said, “Deputy Premier and Minister of Home Affairs, the Hon. Walter H. Roban, JP, MP represented Bermuda at the 15th Caribbean Energy Forum [CREF] which was held in Miami Florida from 26-28 April 2023.

“New Energy Events were the hosts of ‘CREF’ 2023 which is the largest annual gathering of the regional energy market. Eleven winners of its 5th Annual CREF Industry Awards which recognize excellence in projects, programs and people driving forward the clean energy transition in the Caribbean were honoured.

“Minister Roban was invited to participate in the panel discussion, ‘Are we delivering on Energy Security and Climate Resilience for the Region?’ During this discussion, Minister Roban highlighted Bermuda’s Regulatory ‘sandbox’ for renewable energy innovators and the ability to pivot and adapt to changing economics and technological advances as vital in the energy sector.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Transport, Minister Roban accepted the CREF Industry Award in the category of Best E-mobility Project for the electrification of Bermuda’s fleet of public buses.”
