The City is inviting residents to explore the City with their free ‘Discover Hamilton’ walking tours.

A spokesperson said, “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes” – Marcel Proust. Imagine you could experience a place that you visit every day as if you were seeing it for the first time. What if we told you, you can?

“The City of Hamilton is inviting Bermuda’s residents to explore the City through the stories of our international award-winning Town Crier Ed Christopher with our free ‘Discover Hamilton’ walking tour, for a fresh perspective on the City that’s bound to transform the way you see Hamilton.

“The seasonal tour, which returns on Monday, April 1, takes walkers [residents and visitors] across Hamilton on a trip into the past, bringing to life every street corner, past culturally and historically significant landmarks such as Nellie’s Walk, The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, Doctor’s Row, and more!

“As the City’s Town Crier for 30 years, Ed’s extensive knowledge is based on years of research and oral histories passed down through the generations. While his tours are widely popular among tourists, the City wants to encourage the island’s residents to come and explore their own backyard in 2024!”

“There’s so much to learn by delving into the colorful narratives and history of Hamilton,” said Town Crier Ed Christopher. “I invite our local community to come and explore Hamilton’s hidden treasures and rich heritage, uncovering tales and insights that may have eluded you before.

“The experience will leave you brimming with newfound knowledge and anecdotes. I can tailor each tour to your individual preferences whether your interest is in local luminaries, Bermudian architecture, or daily life in pre-war Bermuda. Having grown up in the Pond Hill area, Hamilton’s essence is ingrained in my being. Join me as we explore every nook and cranny, from bustling Front Street to the storied lanes of Court Street.”

The spokesperson said, “The City invites the island’s tourism and hospitality sector to mention the City’s Discover Hamilton tour to their overseas guests and customers looking for a fun, educational, and cultural excursion at no cost. It’s the ideal introduction to the island’s capital city as Ed is a wealth of information when it comes to recommending places to visit, dine, and shop in Hamilton.

“Walk-ins are welcomed, but to avoid disappointment sign up on the City of Hamilton website to reserve your space or for more information email events@cityhall.bm.

“The ‘Discover Hamilton’ tour departs from City Hall at 10:30 am from Monday to Friday until December and takes approximately one hour and 45 minutes. Water is provided and gratuities are accepted. All Town Crier walking tours are wheelchair accessible.

“The Town Crier also offers other City tours which are all available upon request, including private tours, school tours, and more.

“To request any of the above tours or learn more about them, email Ed directly at towncrier@cityhall.bm.”
