Volleyballers Continue Competing In US Open
The women’s and men’s national volleyball Teams continued competing in the US Open Volleyball Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
The women fell in all three matches in the gold/silver rounds.
The Bermuda women were defeated 25-10, 25-16, to the Buffa-hoes, they would then fall 25-9, 25-18 to the Elite Titans, and the final defeat came at the hands of TPE 25-23, 25-17.
Gary LeBlanc, head coach for the women said, “Moving up to the gold/silver bracket as a result of yesterday’s play was a great confidence booster for the team. We played some very well-organized teams but it was an extremely tough day of play. We will take some time to reset today and look forward to a successful day tomorrow.”
The men had a mixed day with one win and two defeats, they fell 21-25, 25-12, 21-19 to 6-pack in the opener, they then defeated RandMo 25-21, 25-22, in their final match of the day they would fall 25-17, 25-18 to Volleyume.
Mike Smith, head coach of the men said, “We had a great team building day today. We started out slow, but the guys really pulled it together our last two games. Our passing was great and we were executing our attack very efficiently. We also stepped up our blocking and took away a lot of opportunities from the other teams. I feel like we are really starting to gel as a team and are ready for our final day tomorrow.”
