Bermuda Women Defeat Belize In Friendly
Goals from Jya Ratteray-Smith and Victoria Davis handed the Bermuda women’s national football team a 2-0 win away to Belize in their second friendly match yesterday [July 14].
Bermuda bounced back from losing 2-0 to Belize in their opening friendly last Thursday, taking the lead in the twelfth minute through Ratteray-Smith before Davis completed the scoring in the 72nd minute.
Naquite Robinson, the Bermuda coach, said the friendly matches offered an opportunity for her players to experience international exposure.
“Often, players are really good locally in training and scrimmages, but these matches allow us to see who can replicate that internationally,” Robinson said.
“Friendlies give us a real gauge of where we are and what we need to work on to get further in our competitions.”
Eva Frazzoni, the Bermuda captain, added: “The more we play, the better we will be collectively. As an older player, getting to meet and gel with the younger players is vital.
“The pool of players and the talent of Bermudians is growing. Players know they must be ready every moment because the competition to play is very high.
“I truly hope we get more and more friendly matches. It gives us a chance to try things, so when it comes to competition time. We feel confident and ready.”
