Advisory: Causeway Has Reopened To Traffic
Following the passage of Hurricane Ernesto, the Causeway has now reopened to traffic.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Minister of National Security, the Hon. Michael Weeks, JP, MP, is pleased to advise that following a thorough inspection process, the Causeway has reopened to traffic. It reopened just prior to 9.00 a.m. this morning.
“And with the reopening of the Causeway, it is expected that the L.F. Wade International Airport will also resume regular operations later today. Members of the public and travellers should contact Skyport or their respective airlines for detailed flight information.
“The Minister also reminded that currently work crews from the Department of Parks, Public Works, Royal Bermuda Regiment and BELCO are making significant progress in clearing roads and restoring power to residents. And Minister Weeks said that he is hopeful that the island will resume a sense of normal operations later today in anticipation of a further significant resumption of business tomorrow, Monday August 19.
“As a note, there will be an Emergency Measures Organisation [EMO] meeting later this afternoon, and a further update on public services thereafter.”
