CSDA To Hold ‘Quality Education’ Sessions
Chatmore School Development Association [CSDA] will be holding ‘Quality Education’ sessions, beginning with a session titled ‘Quality Preschool: What Is It?’ on October 12.
A spokesperson said, “Chatmore School Development Association, a community-focused charity dedicated to supporting the development of Chatmore British International School and enhancing educational opportunities within the community, is excited to announce a new series of professional development sessions for preschool, primary, and secondary school educators and interested community members.
“These sessions will explore the vital topic of ‘Quality Education: What Is It?’ and aim to foster collaboration and actionable outcomes among educators to positively impact ongoing local and global educational practices.
“The first session in the series is titled ‘Quality Preschool: What Is It?’ and will take place on Saturday, October 12, from 9:30am to 11:30am in the BUEI, Cable and Wireless Room. The cost is $25 per session [all proceeds go to support CSDA community education programmes].
“We have invited an extraordinary early years expert and friend of the school, Pam Mundy, to join us in initiating the first session.
“Pam is a highly experienced K-12 education professional, internationally renowned author, and keynote speaker with global recognition in the field of early childhood education and care. With extensive experience in international education, school review, and accreditation, Pam has successfully worked on numerous high-profile education projects in diverse regions, including Africa, Southeast Asia, the Gulf region, North America, and many others.
“Her impressive career includes a recent role as Director of Schools and Education for the NEOM Education, Research and Innovation Sector, where she led education development and school start-up initiatives in the new giga-city of NEOM, Saudi Arabia. Pam’s expertise spans a wide array of leadership positions, including Senior Associate for the Rashid and Latifa Schools Design Team Task Force in Dubai, Director of Education for Dar Al Marefa Schools in Dubai, and Chief Academic Officer for Knightsbridge Schools International.
“Pam continues to operate at both strategic and executive levels for a range of international school groups, businesses, and educational organizations. Additionally, she serves on various UK and international Education Boards, Ministry of Education Select Committees, and groundbreaking educational research groups worldwide. Pam has worked with Chatmore since 2012 and been Vice Chair of the Board of Governors since 2016.
“As a charity, we are recognizing the evolving needs of education and are ‘gearing up’ to support our community in navigating the various facets that influence educational quality. We are fortunate to have a robust network of international and local experts who are committed to helping us shoulder the responsibility of facilitating the knowledge, understanding and expectation of quality education as a foundational and unified concept for the Bermuda community.
“These sessions are just one way we’re supporting our community, while also helping to meet the ongoing development goals of the Chatmore British International School.
“The charity is proud to support Chatmore because it offers a quality small school option within the Bermuda community.”
School Leader, Britanni Butterworth, said, “The restrictions of the pandemic meant that we could not offer the level of service that we wanted for our youngest learners and after creating a high quality early years programme [NAEYC Recognized & Accredited], it was one of the most difficult decisions we’ve had to make but we never underestimate what Chatmore can achieve because it exists solely to meet the needs of families requiring a small nurturing, outdoor learning focused environment.
“We are grateful for the support we receive from CSDA, and we are thrilled to support them as they commence their Quality Education Series. Through initiatives like these, CSDA is reflecting the community support shown to us and sharing expertise that will help educators, parents and learners across the year groups feel understood, supported, and valued beyond their work, home and learning environment.”
The spokesperson said, “We want these sessions to be engaging and transformative and we have included some exciting and relevant incentives for participants who register for/or attend all three sessions.
“This initial session has space for 40 learners, and we invite all preschool owners, leaders, teams, teachers, parents and anyone who wants to explore what defines a quality early childhood education environment and gain input into how it can be implemented most effectively.
“Each series will offer 3 sessions each and will feature both international and local presenters, providing educators with a range of perspectives and insights. The series is designed not only to help educators explore different perspectives but also to connect with one another and engage in collective actions that can make a difference within their personal learning environments and the wider community.
“For more information or to register for the event, please visit the website or contact CSDA, Programme Innovation Lead at csda@chatmore.org or the school at 236-3339. Registration deadline is Monday, October 7.”
