The Ministry of Education said they are “delighted to celebrate World Teachers’ Day on October 5th.”

A Government spokesperson said, “This year’s global theme, ‘Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education,’ reminds us how vital it is to include our teachers in shaping the future of education.

“In Bermuda, we recognise the invaluable insights our educators bring, and we are committed to listening and learning from them as we move forward with transforming our education system.”

Minister Rabain said, “This World Teachers’ Day is a special moment to celebrate and truly value the voices of our teachers. As we work towards reforming our education system, we are not just hearing educators – we are inviting them to lead the way. Our teachers’ perspectives, wisdom, and on-the-ground experience are essential. Bermuda’s educational future relies on them, and we are excited to collaborate in building a system that reflects their vision for our students.

“Education Reform in Bermuda is built on a foundation of partnership and respect, and teachers are at the heart of this journey. Our educators are more than contributors – they are the architects of the new system we are building. We need their input, ideas, and passion to create an inclusive, forward-thinking education system that meets the needs of every student.

“We are excited to soon launch the recruitment process for school transformation team members, and we encourage all educators to join us. Whether you’ve been in the classroom for one year or thirty, your voice is needed and respected, and it will help shape the future of education in Bermuda. Together, we are creating a new social contract for education, where teachers are truly valued and central to the transformation.”

The Government spokesperson said, “In honour of World Teachers’ Day, we also take a moment to remember the founders of the Bermuda Union of Teachers – Edith Crawford, Matilda Crawford, Rufus Stovell, and Adele Tucker. Their dedication to ensuring teachers’ voices are heard inspires us all as we strive to elevate and honour educators across the island.”
