Demonstration Over School Closures On Feb 17
A group of parents are planning a demonstration on Monday morning [Feb 17] where they will be “demanding a pause on the current reform plans.”
A spokesperson said, “What started as a group of concerned Gilbert Institute parents fighting for our school has grown into something much bigger—a call for major change in our education system. We are demanding a pause on the current reform plans and a shift toward real improvements that put our children first.
“The current plan to close so many great schools without suitable options in place to accept our children is unacceptable. Our children deserve better, and so do the dedicated teachers working tirelessly in a system that doesn’t support them. We feel the current education reform plan is not addressing the real issues that need urgent attention.
“We invite all schools, parents, students, friends, and families to join us in taking a stand!
- When: Monday, February 17th, 7:45–8:30 AM
- Where: Trimingham Hill Roundabout, Bus Stops, and East Broadway
- Why: To demand real change in education reform, better curriculum, and support for our schools and teachers
