$2.5M Contract For Innovation Unit/Education

[Updated] Innovation Unit Australia New Zealand Ltd has been awarded a $2.5 million contract for Education Reform / School Redesign.’

According to the official notices, the contract commenced on January 15, 2025, and will run through December 31, 2025, with a total value of $2,525,748.27.

In a previous statement about a prior contract with the company, the government said, “the Innovation Unit works closely with our local teams, including the Education Reform Unit, Working Groups, and School Transformation Teams, to bring about substantial and meaningful change.”

Update: A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Education has reaffirmed its commitment to reforming the public education system and has made a significant financial commitment to this initiative. To date, the Innovation Unit [IU] has worked closely with our local teams, including the Governance Committee, the Education Reform Unit [ERU], Working Groups for each workstream, and School Transformation Teams [STT].

“The Education Reform Unit [ERU] comprises 14 seasoned Bermudian professionals, educators, and technical service providers and has accomplished significant milestones in transforming our public education system.”

A Ministry of Education spokesperson stated: “The IU will continue its work alongside the ERU to launch the third Senior Signature School at Sandys Secondary Middle School and two Parish Primary Schools at the Harrington Sound Primary and Elliot Primary sites in September 2025. They will support the Year 9 and Senior Seminar curriculum writing teams with Middle and Senior School teachers.”

A spokesperson said, “The Ministry remains dedicated to transparency, collaboration, and ensuring that this transformative journey benefits every student, teacher, and family in Bermuda.”
