Ribbon Cutting Held For Loyal Hill Playground
Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers [BILTIR] hosted the official ribbon cutting ceremony to open the Loyal Hill Playground on Northshore Road in Devonshire on Friday, April 4.
A spokesperson said, “The playground, which is now open to the local community, was made possible by the support of 15 BILTIR members who contributed over $100,000 for the project. The parties who donated to the cause are all reinsurance companies with local Bermuda offices and include Athene, Chubb, Dai-ichi Re, Hannover Re, Monument Re, Pacific Life Re, Wilton Re, Agam Bermuda Ltd, Kuvare Re, Legal & General, Martello Re, SFG Bermuda Ltd, Soteria Re, Symetra Bermuda Re, and American Fidelity. Horsefield Landscape was responsible for the design and execution of the project’s construction.
“The ribbon cutting ceremony featured Diallo Rabain, Junior Minister Senator Mischa Fubler, Senator Lindsay Simmons, the Director of Sport and Recreation Charryse Bean, several representatives of the donating companies, as well as members of the Loyal Hill community.”
“The local talent in Bermuda is what drives our global reinsurance business, and the Loyal Hill Playground is our gift back to the community that has helped make BILTIR the organization it is today,” said Suzanne Williams-Charles, CEO of BILTIR. “It’s our responsibility to support our community and this playground provides a space for local families to come together and enjoy time with their loved ones.”
The spokesperson said, “The playground is situated along a railway trail route that BILTIR adopted and supported the process of rehabilitating. BILTIR members were eager to support this project, with BILTIR Board Member and CEO of Wilton Re Bermuda Sylvia Oliveria initiating the idea for the playground.”
“The playground stands as a testimony to what’s possible when international businesses, the government, and the local community work together,” said Oliveria. “The children’s smiles speak volumes about the ripple effects of this collaboration.”
