Harveys Break Records In Fort Lauderdale
Bermudian swimmers Emma and Jack Harvey both achieved record-breaking performances on the third day of the 2025 TYR Pro Swim Series at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Center.
Emma Harvey broke the Bermuda women’s 50m butterfly open record while finishing second in the B Final. Her time of 26.75 seconds surpassed her previous national record of 26.88 seconds, set on February 16, 2024, at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar. Earlier, Harvey qualified for the B Final with a preliminary time of 27.05 seconds, finishing 11th. She also placed 31st in the women’s 50m breaststroke with a time of 33.79 seconds.
Jack Harvey set a new Bermuda men’s 200m open backstroke record during the preliminary heats, clocking 2:01.05 to qualify for the A Final in fourth place. This time bettered his previous record of 2:04.89, achieved on May 22, 2022, at the Bermuda National Championships. However, for the second consecutive day, Jack Harvey withdrew from a final, this time the men’s 200 backstroke A Final, due to a scheduling conflict with an exam.
