Two teams will face off in the Comedy Cup Match improv showdown at BUEI on July 18 and July 19, with all proceeds supporting Family Centre and BUEI.

A spokesperson said, “Two teams are gearing up to battle for laughs in the zany improv Comedy Cup Match, to be held in the Tradewinds Auditorium at BUEI on Friday 18 July and Saturday 19 July.

“Two teams, St Gorgeous and Stunnerset, will be captained by Julia Pitt and Toby Butterfield, respectively. The teams will compete by performing scenes improvised on the spot based on audience suggestions. In effect, TV’s ‘Whose Line is it Anyway’ will meet Bermuda’s Cup Match. Bermuda’s queen of comedy, Gina Davis, will be the umpire and will award points to the teams based on the volume of applause they earn.

“The Bermuda Improv Group [BIG] is arranging this hilarity for charity as a fundraiser for Family Centre and BUEI. All net ticket proceeds will go to the two charities. Family Centre will also earn 100% of the proceeds from drink sales thanks to generous support from Discovery Wines & Spirits. Patrons can also get a 10% discount at the Harbourfront Restaurant on the show nights by showing their tickets.”

Producer Alan Gilbertson said, “Last year’s Comedy Cup Match sold out and the atmosphere was fantastic. We’re aiming for this year’s match to be at least as much fun. Wear your team colours, bring your flags, and make some noise for your team.”

The spokesperson said, “Tickets are on sale at bdatix.bm at $25 each [or $40 with an extra donation to Family Centre]. Drinks will be on sale from 7.00pm in the BUEI lobby and the shows will start at 8.00pm.
