Temporary Bus Detours On North Shore Road
The Department of Public Transportation [DPT] advises the public of “temporary detours affecting Routes 10 and 11 due to ongoing road works along North Shore Road.”
A Government spokesperson said, “Effective immediately, the following changes will be in place:
- “Routes 10 and 11 buses traveling to the east of the island on North Shore Road will detour via Harrington Sound Road, following Route 3, and resume their normal course at the Blue Hole Hill roundabout.
- “Routes 10 and 11 buses traveling inbound to Hamilton will detour by turning left onto Wilkinson Avenue, continuing along Route 3, and rejoining the regular route in Flatts Village.
- “A dedicated shuttle bus will operate in a loop between Blue Hole Hill and Old Road near Burchall’s Cove to serve passengers affected by the detour while North Shore Road remains inaccessible to buses.
“Detours and shuttle services will remain in effect until North Shore Road is cleared for bus passage.
“North Shore Road is expected to reopen temporarily on August 15 and remain accessible over the weekend, allowing Routes 10 and 11 to resume their normal service. However, beginning Monday, August 18, road works will recommence between the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo and Bethel AME Church, requiring buses to detour once again. As the project progresses, construction will shift toward Flatt’s, at which point all affected buses will be rerouted via Store Hill and Harrington Sound Road.
“With rain forecasted throughout the week, DPT anticipates a prolonged period of detours and shuttle operations and appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation.“
