Met Opera To Present ‘Barber Of Seville’
A screening of Barber of Seville — part of the New York Metropolitan Opera’s Met: Live in HD 2024–25 season — will be held at BUEI this Sunday [Feb 22] at 5.00pm.
A spokesperson said, “Don’t miss opportunity to see the hilarious prequel to Marriage of Figaro, as part of the New York Metropolitan Opera’s Met: Live in HD [2024-25] [on film] in Bermuda. Barber of Seville, on film, will be showing at BUEI at 5pm this Sunday. In Italian with English subtitles, approximately 3.5 hours.
“Usual cash bar before and at intermission [approx 6.25pm] and complimentary interval snacks.
“Mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina sings the role of Rosina in Bartlett Sher’s production, following her critically acclaimed performances in title role of Bizet’s Carmen during the 2023–24 Live in HD season. Singing opposite is tenor Jack Swanson as Count Almaviva in his Met debut. Baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Figaro in his Met role debut, and bass-baritone Peter Kálmán makes his company debut as Dr. Bartolo. Bass Alexander Vinogradov makes his Met role debut as Don Basilio, following his performance as Ramfis earlier this season in the Met’s new production of Verdi’s Aida. Conductor Giacomo Sagripanti takes the podium for the first time at the Met.
