Volleyball Teams Compete At Boston Qualifier

Bermuda’s volleyball teams returned to action as the second weekend of the Nike Boston National Qualifier got underway at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, with local clubs competing against teams from across North America.

Bermuda’s Big Wave Riders 18 team finished the opening day of Round 1 Pool 7 with a record of one win and one loss. They opened their campaign with a two-set victory over New Haven Juniors B18-Club, winning 25-15, 25-13.

In their second match, the Big Wave Riders were defeated 2-1 by Downstate 18 Red. After losing the opening set, they responded to take the second set 25-19 before falling 15-9 in the deciding set.

The Paradise Hitters 17 team began their tournament undefeated in Round 1 Pool 5 with three consecutive wins. They opened with a 2-1 victory over SA Elite 16 American Impact after losing the first set.

The Hitters followed that result with a 2-0 win over ENVY 17 TSUNAMI, taking the sets 25-20 and 25-18. They then completed their opening day with another 2-1 victory, defeating NYC Impact 17U Black, sealing the match with a 15-11 win in the deciding set to finish at the top of their pool standings.
