Paradise Mobile has announced the return of its local art exhibition for Heritage Month, featuring works from 20 Bermudian artists at its Reid Street store throughout May.

A spokesperson said, “Paradise Mobile has announced the return of its popular local art exhibition, which will run throughout May’s Heritage Month.

“This year, following an open-call, 20 local artists will have their works up in the 24 Reid Street store for display and purchase. All pieces have been accepted based around this year’s theme announced by the Department of Culture for Heritage Month ‘For de Culture’.

“Almost 50 pieces will adorn the walls of the telecom’s flagship, transforming both floors of the store into a celebration of Bermudian talent. These pieces will be available for purchase throughout the month – although they cannot be collected until the exhibition wraps – and tours will be available on request from the store team. All proceeds of sales will go to the artists.

“The opening of the exhibition will be celebrated with a reception on Thursday, May 8th from 5pm until 8pm. There will be live music from a selection of local vocalists and DJ BonSai as well as wine and soft drinks. The event is open to the public and no registration is required.

“We are really pleased to see the Heritage Month Art Showcase back, and we’re proud to transform our 24 Reid Street store into a gallery for Bermuda’s creative community once more,” said Brett Corday, Chief Revenue Officer at Paradise Mobile. “We’re grateful for this opportunity to support local talent and we encourage everyone to pop by the store to see the artwork, and make sure to vote for your favourite to win the coveted ‘Paradise People’s Choice Award’.”

Claire Peverelli, the organiser of the showcase, commented: “This year’s exhibition is a celebration of the artistry on this island. We’re grateful that Paradise Mobile has given us the space to display such an incredible range of works – from paintings, ceramics, photography, music and embroidery to woodwork, sculpture, model boats and poetry – all sharing a unique part of Bermudian culture. We are really looking forward to opening night on May 8th and we welcome the public to come show their support to their community of local artists.”

The spokesperson said, “The gallery will be open throughout May during Paradise Mobile’s regular operating hours [10 am - 6 pm, Monday to Friday, and 11 am – 4 pm on Saturdays]. Paradise Mobile invites both residents and visitors to explore the exhibition and immerse themselves in the exceptional talent of Bermuda’s local artists.”
