Bermuda Youth Sailors Continue In Halifax
Bermuda youth sailors advanced in the overall rankings at the 2026 Optimist North American Championship in Halifax, Canada.
The event, hosted by the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, concluded its qualifying rounds. The fleet was subsequently split into Gold, Silver, and Bronze fleets based on point totals. Nine sailors represent Bermuda at the competition.
Heath Meyers leads the Bermuda contingent in the Gold Fleet. Meyers began the day in 21st place overall and moved up to 19th position after two races, finishing with 144 net points. Jesse Savage also competes in the Gold Fleet. Savage moved from 54th place to 47th overall, ending the day with 220 net points.
Five Bermudian sailors are competing in the Silver Fleet. Rex Henagulph is in 64th place overall with 124 net points, while Elaine Jones is the highest-ranked Bermudian female sailor in the regatta, sitting in 74th place overall with 157 net points. Miguel Leite is in 93rd place with 203 net points, Calypso Coulter and Walker Smith are tied with 239 net points each.
