Bermuda Defeat Suriname In Tennis
The Bermuda women’s tennis team secured a ninth-place finish at the Billie Jean King Cup Americas Group III tournament following a 2-1 victory over Suriname.
The Bermuda squad featured Asia-Leigh Hollis, Alexcie Burrows, Nadhira Durham, and player-captain Shelby Madeiros, with the team competing in the 9th-10th place classification playoff.
Madeiros won the opening singles match against Suriname’s Faith Bab to give Bermuda the early lead.
Suriname equalized the tie in the second singles match, with Kayla Currie defeating Bermuda’s Nadhira Durham.
In the deciding doubles match, the Bermudian pair of Madeiros and Burrows defeated the Surinamese team of Bab and Cybelle Ferrier to secure the overall victory for Bermuda.
