Basketball: Antigua & Barbuda Defeat Bermuda
Bermuda opened their FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers campaign with an 82-50 defeat against Antigua and Barbuda at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown, Guyana.
Bermuda made a strong start, taking the first quarter 20-14, but Antigua and Barbuda responded in the second quarter, outscoring Bermuda 25-12 to lead 39-32 at half-time.
Antigua and Barbuda extended their advantage after the break, holding Bermuda to five points in the third quarter while scoring 20, before closing out the game with a 23-13 fourth quarter.
Malachi Scott led Bermuda with 14 points, while Leigh-Jaelen Williams had a team-high nine rebounds. Caelin Peters finished with a team-high two assists.
Bermuda are competing in Group A alongside Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Guyana, and Turks and Caicos Islands.
